Superkarts USA Pro Tour Invades Tucson For 2011 Opener
Honda
Racing/HPD SpringNationals kicks off second season of tour
The Superkarts! USA organization is ready to launch its much-anticipated
2011 SKUSA Pro Tour season with this weekend’s Honda Racing/HPD
SpringNationals. Over 160 racers from across the United
States, Canada, Mexico and New Zealand will all converge at
the Musselman Honda Circuit in Tucson, AZ for three days of
action that includes two full rounds of racing counting
towards the season championship point chase. With the
support of Honda and the many karting operations that have
committed to the season, the eight categories competing are
sure to see the largest fields assembled of any shifterkart
and TaG event over the course of the year, other than the
SuperNationals this fall.
“Since we wrapped our 2010 season last November, we have
spent many hours preparing for this weekend in Tucson and
the entire Pro Tour,” stated Superkarts! USA President Tom
Kutscher. “We feel the program we’ve assembled is among the
best programs in the country, if not North America. If you
have a shifterkart or TaG, you need to be part of this deal.
Our numbers are showing that and we are happy to welcome all
these racers and teams. I’d also like to thank the Musselman
Honda Circuit for their efforts to welcome us this weekend.”
The Musselman Honda Circuit, formerly known as the P1 Kart
Circuit, is a replica of the famous Suzuka Kart Track in
Japan, matching its length at 1.264km (0.7986-miles) with
the same 13 corners. At 34’ wide, the track provides plenty
of room for large fields and ample passing opportunities.
For the SpringNationals, the track will be used in the
counter-clockwise configuration, where the current track
record stands at 48.964 seconds.
Aside from the positive atmosphere throughout the paddock at
the SKUSA Pro Tour events, an increased prize fund and
expansion of the SKUSA ‘Circle of Champions’ support package
have helped to bring in the higher entry numbers as many
competitors seek a piece of this year’s series prize
package. SKUSA will dish out roughly $30,000 in event prize
money and points fund distribution throughout 2011, in
addition to $25,000 in racer support for the 2012 Pro Tour
through the ‘Circle of Champions’ program. SKUSA will be
providing all their 2011 Pro Tour champions with
complimentary entries, race tires, fuel, and oil for the
following season. In Tucson, the two pro classes - S1 and
TaG Senior - will battle for the $1,000 to be awarded to the
event winner (cumulative point leader on the weekend), with
second and third earning $500 and $250, respectively.
Other perks for those competing at the Pro Tour include
guaranteed SuperSunday starting positions for the classes
that will be open to 80 entries at the Pro Tour finale - the
SKUSA SuperNationals, which will likely include S2, S4, TaG
Senior, TaG Junior and TaG Cadet. The top three drivers in
Pro Tour points in those categories after the SKUSA
SummerNationals will be rewarded with guaranteed starting
positions in the main event should they not make the main
following the heat races or the Last Chance Qualifier. In
addition, as was the case for the inaugural TaG Cadet Pro
Tour champion (Colton Herta), the 2011 class champion will
be awarded a partially supported trip to the 2012 Rok Cup
International Final in Italy. Support includes the event
entry fee, a new OTK chassis with engine to use for the
race, tires for the race, one set of practice tires, race
fuel and a hotel stay for the driver (four nights). Airfare
is not included. SKUSA will also provide the driver with a
race suit to wear, as the driver will be representing the
organization on the world stage.
Thanks to the ‘Circle of Champions’ program, all eight title
winners from 2010 will be back to contest the Pro Tour in
2011. Six of the eight will attempt to defend their coveted
#1 SKUSA plate, with the other two moving up the
organization’s internal ladder system. Californian Fritz
Leesmann will defend his title in the S1 Pro Stock Moto
category. A host of talented drivers will be looking to
steal the crown from Leesmann, including last year’s S2
Semi-Pro Stock Moto champ Derek Crockett. With Crockett
advancing up to the pro level, leading the S2 championship
contender list is 2010 runner-up Matt Alcorn. With 30
drivers having entered the S2 class prior to hitting Tucson,
the SpringNationals could still be anyone’s for the taking.
Among those entered include last year’s S5 Junior Stock Moto
champion Daniel Langon, as well as several other current and
former S5 graduates.
Defending S4 Master Stock Moto champion Phil Conte will
begin his title defense in Tucson against a deep field as 31
other drivers have thrown their names into the mix as
contenders. On paper, a long list of drivers look to have
the goods to challenge for the title, however, it won’t be
until Saturday morning qualifying when the real contenders
will step up. The growing S5 Junior Stock Moto division has
witnessed two strong graduating classes that have depleted
the current numbers, but there is still a group of young and
talented drivers looking to step into the spotlight in 2011.
Last year’s championship runner-up Austin Schimmel and third
place finisher Alex Tartaglia lead the charge for the title
heading into Tucson.
TaG Senior holds the largest entry total prior to trackside
registration with 33 drivers filling the competitor list.
Defending class champion Phil Giebler elected to return to
defend his title, rather than transfer to the S1 category as
previously stated. Another noteworthy entry to the TaG
Senior roster is defending SKUSA SuperNationals winner -
Brazilian Andre Nicastro. TaG Master has seen a large growth
to the entry numbers already with nearly 20 drivers
registered to contest the opening round of the Pro Tour. The
top three from last year’s championship chase all return to
battle once again with Ethan Wilson carrying the #1 plate,
while Steve Wiener and Brian McHattie will don the #2 and #3
plates, respectively. Behind them is a hungry group of
competitors looking to claim those positions come November.
NorCal pilot Luis Tyrrell has elected to return for his
final year in the Junior ranks and will defend his TaG
Junior title in 2011. A number of returning drivers will
keep Tyrrell honest as the season goes on, as will the
addition of some very quick TaG Cadet graduates. One driver
with the target on his back in the TaG Cadet division is
Colton Herta, as he made the category his own in 2010. Herta
will proudly run the #1 plate in his title defense. National
#3 driver Noah Grey and a handful of others will look to
dethrone the young second-generation pilot.
Teams and competitors will begin moving into the Musselman
Honda Circuit on Thursday (April 28) to set up camp for the
weekend and complete their registration. SKUSA will be
hosting a Pro Tour Kick-off Party at the host hotel - JW
Marriott Starr Pass - at 7:00 pm that evening. Drivers hit
the track on Friday morning to begin the on-track action
with six sessions per class. Saturday will fire up round one
of the Pro Tour with qualifying set to begin at 9:20am. Two
heat races will follow and the main events are scheduled to
begin at 2:50pm. The same format will follow on Sunday, as
the results will count as round two for the point chase. For
complete details on the event, be sure to visit the event
page on the SKUSA website (http://www.superkartsusa.com/national/skusa-pro-tour/spring-nationals.html).
A reminder to all competitors and those that wish to attend
as the Tucson area does not observe Daylight Savings and is
at Mountain Standard Time.
Superkarts! USA has partnered with eKartingNews.com once
again, as they will be providing their ‘EKN Trackside Live’
coverage throughout the weekend. Highlighting their coverage
will be the live play-by-play audio from qualifying to the
final main event. EKN Publisher and long-time voice of
Superkarts! USA Rob Howden will emcee the audio coverage via
their webpage (www.ekartingnews.com/live), in addition to
their unmatched written coverage and forum updates
throughout the weekend.

4-27-11 Rock
Island Grand Prix Offers $5,000 to Win TaG Senior
Earlier this year
the Rock Island Grand Prix presented by AT&T - scheduled for
September 3-4, 2011 - announced it would host an exciting
2-cycle Pro Open race featuring the sport’s top drivers. Then it
announced a new partnership with IndyCar that will provide the
winner of this year’s King of the Streets stock moto race with a
spot in the Mazda Road to Indy driver combine that features a
free test in a USF2000 car. Later it was announced that the
winner of the Yamaha SuperCan Medium class will win $4,000 and
almost $7,000 in prize money will be guaranteed in that one
class.
Today, the Rock Island Grand Prix is excited to announce the
largest payout for a single race in the event’s 17 year history.
This is a one-time opportunity for 2011 only. The driver who
finishes first in the 2011 TaG Senior race will take home $5,000
and the field will compete for a total guaranteed payout of more
than $8,000 in total prize money. The purse will be distributed
throughout the field.
Second place will pay $1,000, with third place earning $750.
Additional places through ninth place will pay the same as other
Rock Island Grand Prix classes except that payouts are
guaranteed regardless of the number of entries. In addition, the
driver who gains the most positions during the race (minimum of
5) will receive a check for $200. The driver leading at the
halfway point of the race will win $100 and the driver who
qualifies on the poll will win $100.
“TaG racing has been a cornerstone of the Rock Island Grand Prix
since its infancy under its founder, Tom Argy Jr.,” said Roger
Ruthhart, president of the Rock Island Grand Prix. “TaG was
originally designed as a local, entry-level class whose
competitors would gather each year at one or two festival-type
events like Rock Island to enjoy the spirit and camaraderie of
racing. Today, it has grown into one of the most popular
national classes. We hope that this historic payout will
encourage all TaG drivers and teams to come to Rock Island and
enjoy our truly unique festival experience and take home one of
the biggest checks in kart racing.”
If necessary, a Last Chance Qualifier will be held to give
drivers a chance to win their way into the field for the TaG
Senior feature. TAG USA rules and approved tires and compounds
will apply. Spec fuel and oils have been designated in the
Supplemental Rules. For more information, be sure to visit

4-28-11 Novice
or Experienced, PGP Has Lots of Rental Kart Racing Events
Want to find out how fun and exciting kart racing is but don’t
know where to start? Have the need for speed but not the
pocketbook to buy your own competition kart? Own a kart but some
days just want to race instead of worrying about hauling it to
the track, setting it up and getting it home?
The answer is: Rental Kart Racing at PGP Motorsports Park and
you can get started this weekend!
PGP has three different ways for you to get — or start — your
racing fix with our rental kart fleet: (1) the Rental Kart
League Racing (RKLR), (2) the Rental Kart Class of the Stars of
PGP Kart Series and (3) Wednesday Warrior Endurance Racing.
All racing at PGP is rain or shine and rental kart events are
open to those 15 and older with no prior racing experience or
competition license required. You show up ready to experience
the thrill of racing and PGP provides the rest — the kart, fuel,
tires, helmet and a state-of-the-art track.
See below for a complete list of upcoming rental kart events,
but be warned: PGP’s rental karts are the perfect starting
ground for further racing, so don’t be surprised if you get
hooked and can’t get enough.
Rental Kart League Racing. Formerly known as the Rental Kart
Racing Series, the RKLR returns to action on April 30 with the
first of seven rounds. There are two classes, Expert and Novice,
and both are weighted. During each RKLR event you’ll get four
on-track sessions — one practice, qualifying, Pre-Final and
Final races — and there are no maximum number of drivers.
In the recently completed RKLR Winter Series, Paul Robertson won
the Expert Class championship after recording victories in the
first three of seven rounds and then holding steady against a
charge from PGP newcomer Shawn Tracy. Tracy scored his first win
in Round 6 and he finished as the runner-up in the series
finale, less than a kart length behind veteran racer Maurice
Shawver.
In the Novice class the story of the Winter Series was Brian
Raymond, who dominated the class with five wins en route to
earning the championship. Raymond had the title wrapped up
before winning the series finale, but by finishing the race as
the runner-up Nicholas Sturm was able to place second overall in
the standings.
Stars of PGP Kart Series. This eight-round series opened last
weekend but there is plenty of exciting racing left to enjoy.
The Rental Kart Class is open to any drivers who have already
taken part in an RKLR event, or who receive approval from the
Race Director. A limited number of slots will be available for
each event, so early registration is a must.
There are two classes, Expert and Novice, and unlike previous
Stars of PGP Kart Series events weight ballast will be in place
this season. You’ll get four on-track sessions — one practice,
qualifying, Pre-Final and Final races.
Wednesday Warrior Endurance Racing. You may have what it takes
to put down a fast lap in one of PGP’s rental karts, but can you
do it lap after lap after lap? To find out, grab up to two
friends to take on the field in the Team class or run on your
own in the Ironman class. Wednesday Warrior Endurance events
start at 5:30 p.m. and include one practice session and two
competitive racing sessions: one for 30 minutes and one for 90
minutes.
Kart assignments will be made based on a random draw, with new
karts assigned after each segment. The field will be inverted
based on a random draw. Both the team and Ironman completing the
most laps over the total 90 minutes will hoist winner’s trophies
at the top of the PGP podium.

4-26-11 Stars
of PGP Kart Series - Round 1 Report
Rotax racer works
around a corner at PGP
What a great way to start the competitive karting season at PGP
Motorsports Park! Saturday’s opening round of the Stars of PGP
Kart Series saw beautiful weather and fantastic action on the
track including a new track record.
Entering its sophomore season, the series has some established
contenders but on Saturday some new drivers not only made their
PGP debut but also showed early promise of challenging for
victories and eventually championships.
Once the dust had cleared first-place trophies in the various
categories were awarded to Justin Taylor, Hayden Hochhalter,
Derek Wang, Doug Taylor, Sean Naslund, and Cameron Grimes-Hess.
Details for each category are below and PGP wishes to thank Leon
Cheung for the photos.
The next round of the Stars of PGP Kart Series is Saturday, May
21 — and don’t forget the Friday before, May 20, has been set
aside as an exclusive practice session. Can’t get enough
competing at PGP? Come out for the opening round of Rental Kart
League Racing this Saturday, April 30.
In Rotax Mini it was all Justin Taylor, who turned lap times
just shy of the track record all day long and secured the
trifecta with the pole and victories in the Heat Race and Final.
After not getting to turn a lap in qualifying due to mechanical
issues, Matt Nelson came back to take second.
Caleb Daniells shattered his own Rotax Micro track record during
qualifying and then followed up that by running away with the
Heat Race win. In the Final, Caleb felt pressure from behind
coming from 7-year-old Hayden Hochhalter, who found a lot more
speed from his run in the heat. Hayden stalked the leader for
several laps then inherited the lead when Caleb made an
uncharacteristic mistake entering Turn 4. Hayden held on for his
first victory in just his first race at PGP.
Some of the day’s best racing and one of the most exciting
finishes was in the Rental Kart Class, as new drivers put
pressure on the established contenders. One of those was Shawn
Tracy, who won the pole in qualifying and earned a podium finish
in the Final after making the move up from the Saturday morning
league series to challenge to the drivers of the Stars series.
Rental racers doing battle
Battling for the victory in the Heat Race and Final would be
three of the best rental kart racers at PGP: Cameron
Grimes-Hess, Maurice Shawver and Jerry Peterson. A last-lap pass
gave Grimes-Hess the Heat victory over Peterson by the slim
margin of two-tenths of a second and set the stage for a
thrilling feature event.
Shawver would find the point at the drop of the green in the
Final, but he was immediately pressured by Grimes-Hess,
eventually losing the spot to his rival. As the two battled back
and forth, Peterson and Tracy joined the fight to make it a
four-way battle for the win. On the final lap, Shawver shot to
the inside going into Turn 6, pulling alongside Hess but losing
all his speed and falling into the clutches of Peterson and
Tracy. Hess held on for the win, followed by Peterson and Tracy.
Birel stable teammates Sean Naslund and Derek Hansen were the
class of the field in the shifter category followed by Scott
Little, who was making his first start in the class. Adding to
the fun for the Final was PGP’s own Kyle Zalud, who drove the
same shifter kart available for rent from the track.
Naslund, the reigning class champion, looked to once again be in
fine form, winning the pole, Heat Race and Final. With just a
few races in the class, Hansen was still finding more pace in
his ride but he was quick enough to finish second. The feel-good
story of the day had to be Little, who overcame early motor
issues. Little’s lap times improved throughout the day and by
the end he was cutting circuits times just shy of Hansen’s.
From qualifying to the Final, Rotax Senior was a fight for
second place as Rolison Performance Group racer Derek Wang
completely dominated the day. Clocking a lap nearly a
half-second quicker than the rest of the class, Wang cruised to
the pole position and then victory in the Heat Race. Although
Wang was beaten off the line at the start of the Final, he
recovered the lead and then built an insurmountable margin en
route to the win.
Battling for the “best of the rest” behind him was Seattle
Karting Specialties driver Johnny Blair and Cameron Grimes-Hess.
Grimes-Hess had the second fastest time in qualifying but Blair
struck back with a runner-up finish in the heat. The two battled
again in the Final, with Grimes-Hess applying early pressure
that Blair was able to withstand on his way to another
second-place finish. Grimes-Hess took the final podium spot.
Mini Max hits the track
The driver to beat in Rotax Master was Doug Taylor, holder of
the track record holder for TaG Master. Taylor proved he was
just as fast in Rotax Master, taking the pole by a narrow margin
over Doug Huggler and then recording solid victories in the Heat
Race and Final. The battle behind Taylor in the heat was between
Huggler and Jerry Peterson, with Peterson taking second.
Peterson turned up the pace in the feature, getting past Huggler
and turning laps close to that of Taylor, but he wasn’t able to
cut into the gap.

4-26-11 Red
Line Oil Karting Championship Round Two Preview
After a strong
turnout for the season opener, the Red Line Oil Karting
Championship will shift gears and use the tight Sprint track
configuration for round two on Sunday, May 1st at the Jim
Russell International Karting Center. The GoPro featured class
will be 80 Masters, where the race winner will take home a GoPro
HD Hero Camera.
Several classes will feature some very close and competitive
racing. The Rotax Senior class with nine strong drivers in the
field last month should again highlight a very competitive race
with several drivers taking a shot at de-throning round one
winner Carlos Calderon. First time 80 Masters winner Charles
Hastings should expect a strong challenge from at least three
other past winners including defending class champ Tom Nelson.
Look for a battle royal in the Sanzaru Games Rotax Mini Max
class where competive racing was experienced by all ten drivers
last month. Expect Michael Avansino, Michael Michoff and Scott
Huffaker to once again fight for the win and $50 in cash. Second
and third places will take home $30 and $20, respectively. Mini
Max class sponsor Sanzaru Games will be awarding cash prizes all
season long. With seven drivers, the 'club' IAME TaG class
started the season with good driver interest and competitive
racing. With nine drivers, the SKUSA rules based S2 and S4 race
group not only saw good numbers for the season opener, but also
provided some outstanding racing.
Saturday practice is available from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm with
pre-race registration also available at Saturday. Entry fee for
the race is $100 plus $10 for transponder rental, $10 for pit
passes and $50 for Saturday practice. Sunday's schedule starts
at 8:20 am with the first heat taking the green flag at 10:45
am.
Spectator information: With a second event at Infineon Raceway
on this race weekend, all spectators, crew and drivers must go
to the old Jim Russell building to buy a pit pass and to sign in
for the karting event. Your wrist band will admit you into the
raceway. When you pull into the Infineon Raceway entrance, look
to the right and you will see the Red Line Oil Karting
Championship sign with the arrow pointing to the right. Park
next to the brick wall and go behind the wall to the old Russell
building.

Kartel Motorsports Davis WKA Outlaw Report
This past
weekend the Kartel krew was at it again. With the sky blue
and warm weather the Kartel drivers were confident and
looking forward to great racing on the technical Blue Max
Kart Track. With a challenging track surface the team
utilized Saturdays test time and dialed in the karts. Having
drivers in nearly every class, Kartel drivers won every
class entered.
First up was kid karts and new to kartel/Magnum driver
Stephan Daniel put his kart where it belongs- up front!!
Stephan drove a smart race and brought the team its first
win of the day.
Next was the Jr.1 Comer where Davey Manthei Qualified on
pole. Kartel teammate Jack Von Quilich put down a quick lap
and secured the 3rd starting position. They would race the
heat race and both finished up in that same order. In the
final, Manthei got in the lead and never looked back. Jack
had a great run but unfortunately was involved in an
incident that put him out of the race.
Kartel had four drivers in the KPV-2 class, Austin Elliot,
Brandon Tomko, Sonny Cervelli and Blaine Rocha. They all ran
competitive practice times on Saturday and Sunday was no
different. Rocha lead the trio and Qualified First. Cervelli
raced a smart race and secured the second starting position.
The two lead the field the entire race. Tomko worked his way
through the field and settled for third, making it a podium
sweep. Austin had a good race but unfortunately racing
incidents plagued the entire race for him.
Hometown hero Andrew Peeler set the stage for Tag Sr. and
put on a show. Running consistent lap times and smooth
driving, the Track champion did his thing. Peeler kept his
Davis win streak alive and won the Final. Cory Mitchell
raced a stellar race and strengthened his championship
chances with a solid third place finish.
Last up was the KPV-1 and Roy Fulmer, Jason Pettit and Davey
Manthei represented kartel. Manthei laid down a fast lap in
Qualifying to lock down his second Pole of the weekend.
Fulmer was racing smart and consistent, closing in on Pettit
who was in third. Davey had a great battle on the last lap
using his race craft to win his second final of the weekend
and stretch his championship lead in KPV-1.
“After winning the Long Beach Grand Prix myself and hearing
we won every class we had a driver in at Davis, that made my
weekend” said Factory BMW driver and Kartel owner Joey Hand.
“I take pride in each one of the kids we work with, and
receiving the call that we swept the weekend just solidifies
the methods we teach and the knowledge we have, works. Not
only in cadet AND full size karts, but on two different
chassis brands as well.”

NNKC Championship Race #1
Kicking off 2011,
the Reno Kart Club saw 51 entries to our first race. The weather
was very unpredictable throughout the week and weekend. We hope
next race turns out to be the big one. There was some great
racing all day long in all the classes. KK, Sr. Clone, Jr.
Clone, Shifter and TaG classes saw the same drivers who just
keep on winning. Our race director, Tom Halbasch, did an
excellent job and was very fair to all the drivers. Dave Brant
was at his usual self with top of the line flagging duties. Next
race is May 15th. Lets get it on!!
Kid Karts
3 Kid Karters came out to race on this beautiful 55 degree day.
Setting the pace as usual was Nolan Wyman with 59 second lap.
Gavin Van Cott is a returning Kid Karter himself and looked
faster than he was last year. Greg Kennedy came out after
missing the last few races of 2010. Little Nolan was able to win
all the heats and the main event by a substantial margin. Greg
was able to hang on to 2nd with Gavin coming in 3rd place. We
hope to have 1 or 2 more KK's out for the next race. Story by
Brian R.
Jr 2 Clone
6 karts came out for this class. It was a surprise to see so
many 12-15 year old kids getting into the clone class. Kicking
things off was Logan Wyman who pulled off pole with a blistering
44.9 time, a full second faster than 2nd place Dean Andrews.
Logan would go on to win the first heat with Dean a half second
behind. The second heat had more action in it as the start would
see newcomer Tyler Rivera go from last to 3rd in the first turn.
Shannon Wyman would lead the race till lap 5, when her old
brother Logan decided he wanted the lead. That's how they would
finish that heat; Logan, Shannon and Tyler in 3rd. The main
event brought out some great racing as well. Shannon would get
the lead from the start and hold the position till lap 5 again,
when Dean Andrews made the pass for first. Just behind them,
former racer Joey Rivera and Tyler (cousins) were having a great
battle for 4th. Rookie McKenna Rivera had a good little race
going until she crashed into the hay bales in turn 2. But the
kids saved the passing for the final lap as Logan shot by Dean
for the lead. Tyler would end up making the pass on Joey at the
end of the straight. That's how they finished this spectacular
race with Logan in 1st, Dean in 2nd, Shannon 3rd, Tyler 4th and
Joey in 5th followed by McKenna in 6th. Story by Brian R.
TaG Senior
There were three drivers in the tag senior class and they came
out firing. Qualifying started and saw Chelsi Wagner jump out
with the quick time. Matt Koerner's transponder wasn't working
which relegated him to the back of the pack and Sean Doyle
qualified second. The first heat started and everybody fell into
line. Matt got by Sean for 2nd place early in the race and
Chelsi remained in the lead. The second heat saw Matt start on
pole for the invert and Sean and Chelsi behind him. That is how
the whole race would go and that's how they finished. The main
started as Chelsi was off pole and Matt right next to her. Early
in the race Chelsi started to get away from Matt, but he put his
head down and caught back up. Sean found himself tangled up with
one of the TaG Master drivers and he ended the race on the side
of the track. Chelsi was caught up in other TaG Master carnage
and that allowed Matt to close the gap. Half way through the
race she got caught up in a spin on the last corner and Matt
found his way by her. This is how it would end with Matt Koerner
taking his first TaG Senior victory with Chelsi in second and
Sean with a DNF. Story by Matt K.
F-125
The three F-125's were the first out on the cold morning track.
All three karts were running stock moto's. But the drivers were
surprised at the amount of traction. For the first heat, John
Morgan would line up first. Todd Thompson making his return
after a few years away would line up second and Raul Rodriguez
making his F-125 premier, would line up third. Morgan was able
to lead into turn one. Todd closed the gap to Morgan but was not
able to get by on the short track. In the second heat invert,
Todd was on inside and John lined up second. Both karts got a
good start and were side by side going into turn one. John had
nowhere to go and tried an over under move into turn two. Todd
being the veteran he is, knew it was coming and blocked the
move. Morgan was not able to make up the lost ground as Todd was
getting his groove back and ran a clean race. Raul was having
throttle spring issues but was able to get some good laps in.
Lining up for the final, Morgan would again be on pole with Todd
off pole. Todd was able to hole shot Morgan off the line & lead
into turn one. Thompson and Morgan chased each other around but
any ground John was able to make up slipped away with small
mistakes here and there. Todd showed his experience running a
clean consistent heat, winning by a little less then 2 seconds
over Morgan. Rodriguez also showed great promise putting some
great laps together and finishing third. Being that his was his
first F-125 race and never running this configuration, Rodriguez
had a great first race. Each driver showed good times in the
final. Thompson ran a best of 36.687 on lap 7. Morgan ran a best
of 36.693 in lap 12 and Rodriguez ran a best of 39.068 on lap 5.
Next race (long track) will have at least six 125's out for
serious business. Story by John M.
TaG Masters
Tag Master had a great turn out for the first race. During
qualifying, 2010 TaG Masters Champ Brian Rivera would grab the
top spot with a 37.703 beating out former returning member Steve
Ryckebosch. Sophmore karter John Morgan #25 got third in Qual.
In the first heat, the third row with help from behind, ended up
3 wide entering going into turn one. Brother of Steve, Mike
Ryckebosch and 2009 Champ Dan Harris would make contact
resulting in Dan going hard into the barriers. Mike R. was able
to continue but Harris limped to the pits with a broken kart.
Lap 1 ended with Rivera in front and followed by the hard
charging Steve R. Newcomer to TaG Masters, Tom Koerner was able
to get by Scott Andrews on lap 2. But Tom K. would have an issue
on lap 3 dropping out of the race. Mike R. then had a mechanical
that dropped him out on lap 4. At the end of the heat, S.
Ryckebosch would capitalize on Rivera's mistake as Rivera would
brush the barrier coming onto the straightaway. Steve R would
take the first heat win of the year followed by Rivera, Morgan,
Andrews, McMullen and Yochum.
The second heat would invert the top 6. Mike R. would lead to
the green flag followed by Andrews, Harris, Morgan, Steve R.,
Rivera, Westenberg, Yochum & McMullen. The first attempt at the
start had the outside row jump & to Morgan's dismay his first
time leading in Tag Masters was short lived. The second start
was fair. Mike R. lead out of turn 2 followed by Steve R. who
got a great start. Dan Harris then got a wheel on the inside of
Steve R. going into 3. Both karts would run wide allowing Morgan
to get the inside line & pass both, but obviously there was
another inside line and Rivera dove to the inside line with no
pavement in front of him but dirt! He railed through and came
out behind Harris in 3rd. Coming around for lap 1 it would be
Mike R, Harris, Rivera, and Morgan. Mr. Brant in the flagstand
thought it would be a good idea to let the field see a rolled up
black flag to try and get the drivers to regain some of their
composure. By the third lap Rivera was pressuring Mike R. for
the lead & Steve R. was chasing Morgan trying to take third.
Rivera made a late brake pass going into turn 1 to take the lead
from Mike R. on the last lap. When the dust settled the top 3
were Rivera, Mike R. and Morgan.
The stage was then set for the final. Rivera again would be on
the pole, follwed by Steve R., Morgan and Mike R. Coming out of
turn one Morgan was able to get by Steve R, but got passed by
Mike R. before entering turn 3. At the end of lap 1, Rivera was
already stretching his lead followed by Mike R, Morgan, and
veteran Mike McMullen. The racing was hot the entire race. But
Rivera kept pouring on the fast times and built up a 15 second
advantage over Morgan. That's how they would finish, with Rivera
taking the honors, follwed by Morgan and Steve R. who had
managed to plow through the field after his bad start. Story by
John M.
Jr 1-2 Cycle
Six of the seven expected Junior 1 boys showed up for this first
race of the season. We want to welcome two new additions to this
years JR-1 contingent, Qualik Tuliva and Jacob Brown. Turbo
Sombatsiri came with a tired pit crew trying to get his brakes
working properly the night before with limited success.
Qualifying saw Richard Stock as the top qualifier with a time of
45.317 on a cold track followed by Conner Van Cott at 46.209,
Isaac Wyett at 46.941, and Turbo Sombatsiri at 47.858. The 1st
heat saw Richard Stock on the pole trying to run slow enough to
line up the field for the start. He ended up fouling out the
spark plug and watched from the infield as Conner Van Cott lead
a close battle with Isaac and Turbo all within 6 seconds of each
other when they saw the checkered flag.
The second Heat started off better with Turbo leading the first
two laps while Conner passed Richard on the first lap, then
passed Isaac, only to then make contact with Turbo on turn 2
which also collected Isaac. This maylay let Richard cruise by on
the inside to take the lead followed Turbo and Conner. Then
Conner made his move to second as Turbo's brake problems
re-emerged to let Qualik take 3rd and Jacob cruise to a 4th
place finish.
For the Final 16 lap main, Conner Van Cott would take the lead
followed by Richard Stock, Turbo Sombatsiri, Isaac Wyett, Qualik
Tuliva, and Jacob Brown. Turbo got by Isaac quickly while
Richard tailed Conner paitently, waiting for Conner to make a
mistake. 3 laps later the duo encountered lapped traffic in the
S's with Conner breaking right and Richard breaking left, taking
the inside line onto the main straight and closing the door on
Conner. Stock would never look back and take the checkered
flags. Richard racked up 44.548 second lap times taking him to a
16 second lead over 2nd place Conner Van Cott at the checkered
flag followed by Turbo in 3rd place, Isaac taking 4th, Qualik
Tuliva finishing 5th and Jacob Brown rounding out the field
finishing 6th. Story by Larry S.
TaG Novice
Tag Novice found Don "The Bumper Man" Faris putting the #4 in
the pole position for the first race of the season. Following
behind were Javier Avila in the #1, Gary "Speedy G" Guzelis in
the #2 and “Saving His Engine” Bruce Garafola in the #44 kart.
Heat one found three karts on the track, the #44 mysteriously
missing. Faris led the race to finish 1st, Avila dropping out on
the 6th lap with mechanical trouble leaving Guzelis with second.
Bruce reappeared for Heat 2 but Javier this time was missing due
to engine problems. Heat 2 finished as it started…Faris,
Garafola, and Guzelis. The main event was again another solid
race by all the Novice drivers. Avila would not start due to his
continued motor problems. Guzelis (not so Speedy G), would
eventually spin out and go out of the race by lap 12. That left
Bruce and Don to fight it out. Garafola would beat Faris to the
line by 2.3 seconds and claim his first TaG win. Congrats Bruce!

4-18-11 Red
Line Oil Karting Championship Round One
Mostly sunny
skies made for a great opening race of the 2011 season for
the Red Line Oil Karting Championship. Eighty-five entries
was the largest turn out in series history. In addition to
strong Rotax fields, there were good entries in the S2, S4,
80 Masters, IAME TaG and KPV2 classes. The day finished with
the featured race of the day, the GoPro Rotax
Masters/Masters Light race, where the winners of both of
these classes received a GoPro HD Hero Camera.
Sanzaru
Games Rotax Mini-Max
Ten drivers took the track to put on a great race. Michael
Michoff took the pole over Scott Huffaker and 2010 champ
Michael Avansino. In the first heat, Michoff took the win
over Avansino, Huffaker and Garrett Dixon. In the second
heat, Avansino fell back to third early on, but took both
Michoff and Huffaker down the straight mid-race to take over
the lead and held on to take the win ahead of Michoff,
Huffaker and Annie Breidinger. In the main, Avansino took
the early lead with Michoff and Huffaker in close pursuit.
For the first half of the race, it was a five kart train up
front with Breidinger and Dixon in fourth and fifth. In the
end, Avansino took a narrow win ahead of Michoff with
Huffaker in third. Less than a half second separated first
from third. Breidinger came home fourth and Dixon fifth.
Sanzaru Games has added a new prize to this class for 2011
with more spending cash going to the top three drivers.
Avansino took home $50, Michoff, $30 and Huffaker $20 for
their efforts.
KPV2, KPV1 & Micro Max
Four KPV2 karts lead the way when the green flag dropped in
this new junior race group. Qualifying on pole and winning
both heats and the main was Justin Yanez. While Yanez
controlled the front of the field, a battle raging not far
behind with Tommy McCarthy and Jaden Conwright trading
positions throughout the day. In the main, Conwright took
over second at the start of the race and held it to take
checkered flag with McCarthy coming home third. Alec Hudson
(KPV1) took fourth and the class win in KPV1. In his racing
debut, Valdemar Eriksen (Micro Max) came home sixth .
TaG Senior & IAME TaG
Two TaG Seniors (run under SKUSA rules) lead the field down
to the green flag with seven IAME TaG karts right behind. So
Cal's Niki Luna took the pole ahead of veteran TaG driver
Larry Fraser. These two would put on an epic battle all day
with the lead changing several times. In the heat races,
Fraser took the wins with Luna close behind. In the main,
the two swapped the lead several times until they both
wanted the same spot on the track. The contact left Fraser
on the side of the track with a dead motor and Luna coming
home first. In the spec gear IAME class, class champ Michael
Torrano took the pole ahead of Darrin Gearhy and Don Rocci.
In the first heat, Don Rocci got stronger throughout the
race and took over the top spot to come home with the class
win ahead of Torrano. Heat two was a repeat of Rocci getting
by Torrano to take the class win. In the main, Rocci lead
from the green flag to come home second overall in the race
and win the IAME class. Torrano came home second for the
third straight time ahead of Darrin Gearhy and Chris
Francis.
80 Masters
The veteran 80 Masters class had nine drivers in attendance
with Bob Lesnett returning after a year off to take the pole
ahead of new comer Charles Hastings. In the first heat,
Hastings showed that he was not really a new comer when he
took the lead early and drove on to the win. There was a
battle royal right behind with Greg Richter and Tom Nelson
battling for second. Richter finally came home second,
Nelson third and Roger Cornwall fourth. The second heat
again saw Hastings put his kart into the lead early and was
never challenged. Richter had a poor start and Nelson took
second ahead of Lesnett and Marc Stanley. In the main, again
Hastings took the lead from the pole and controlled the pace
of the race to come home six seconds ahead of the rest of
the pack. But the real excitement was in the battle for
second between Nelson and Richter. First Nelson would be in
second, then Richter would make a pass to take over second.
At mid-race, the two drivers came together and Richter had
his front fairing ripped off which forced him to the pits.
Cornwall took advantage of the Nelson/Richter battle to slip
into second, a position he would hold until the race end.
Nelson recovered to take third ahead of Stanley and Lesnett.
GoPro
Featured Race: Rotax Masters & Rotax Masters Light
Twenty karts took the track, the largest class of the day,
10 Masters and 10 Masters Lights. Andrea Delfanti (Light)
took the pole ahead of newcomer Berto Wooldridge (Light) and
Mert Solis (Light). Cameron Evans was fourth on the grid and
the top Masters driver with the second fastest Masters
driver Scott Ripslinger in sixth and the third fastest
Masters driver Jerry Pretti in tenth. The first heat saw
Delfanti take a commanding position at the front of the
field and David Carlisle (Light) move up from fifth to take
the runner up spot. Wooldridge was third with the first
Masters driver Evans coming home in fifth, Ripslinger and
Pretti taking second and third in the Masters class with
eighth and ninth overall finishes. In the second, again
Delfanti took the win with Wooldridge taking second and
Carlisle third. The top Masters class drivers were Evans in
fourth , Ripslinger in fifth and Pretti in seventh. The main
unfortunately became a mixture of bumper cars and crash-a-rama
as there was hardly a lap where there wasn't a kart off the
track. The front runners for the most part came through it
all without much effect. Delfanti took the overall win with
Carlisle second overall with Evans coming home third and
taking the Masters class win. Wooldridge had some trouble
and took fifth in the Light class with Pretti in the Masters
class getting caught up in a tangle on the fifth lap to end
his race in the grass. In the Light class, Delfanti was
first, Carlisle second, Solis third, Mary Beth Wilson fourth
and Wooldridge fifth. In the Masters class, Evans took the
class win with Ripslinger in second, Bob Hurst third, Ken
Santos fourth and Peter Breidinger in fifth. Both Delfanti
and Evans took home a GoPro HD Hero camera.
Rotax Junior
Four drivers took the green with 2010 champ Brody Zink
taking the pole ahead of Maxx Marian. In the first heat,
Marian took the initial lead at the drop of the green. Zink
took over the top spot at mid-race and came home with the
win ahead of Marian. The second heat was a near repeat of
the first heat except Zink lead from the green. In the main,
Zink was never challenged and came home six seconds clear of
Marian with Zack Dante third and Will Preston in fourth.
Rotax Senior
2010 class champ Carlos Calderon took the pole ahead of nine
other drivers. Niki Luna qualified second with TJ Fischer in
third. In the first heat, Calderon and Luna exchanged
positions several times, but both came together in one of
those pass attempts with Luna coming out ahead of Calderon
and Fischer having to spin off to avoid the two leaders.
Sean McDonald took third with Andrew Colombini fourth. In
the second heat, Calderon took the early lead with Luna
again putting on the pressure. Luna dropped a wheel a couple
of times in the heat and fell back to ninth at the end.
Carlos came home first, Fischer second, Raymund Bustamante,
Jr. third and Colombini fourth. Jarrett Lile took his second
fifth in a row. In the main, Calderon took the early lead
and by the third lap started to slowly pull away. Luna was
not able to stay in contact and had to settle for second
place, three seconds back. TJ Fischer lead a pack of six
karts that battled for the last podium position. Fischer
finally took the third spot ahead of Colombini, Bustamante,
McDonald, Lile and Josh Feiber.
Rotax DD2 and DD2 Masters
The two-speed Rotax class had a good showing with one Rotax
DD2 and six DD2 Masters/Heavy Driver karts. Pole went to
Michael Ostrowski ahead of David Palic (Masters) and Andre
Eriksen (Masters). In the first heat, Ostrowski took the
lead followed by Eriksen, Palic and January Grove (Masters).
On lap two, Palic and Grove came in contact exiting the
hairpin turn when their wheels touched and Palic's kart was
tossed up on top of Grove's kart. Grove pulled to the side
of the track hurt and the race was red flagged. The race
event was stopped for over an hour as Grove was attended to
and eventually transported to the Napa Hospital. By the end
of the day, January was released to go home with five broken
ribs. When the racing resumed, Ostrowski went on to win the
first heat ahead of Eriksen with Bob Olson (Masters) coming
home third. In the second heat, Ostrowski made it two in a
row with Eriksen in second and Palic taking third. In the
main, Ostrowski took the initial lead but fell back as he
lost power. About half way through the race, Ostrowski's
motor came back to life and he set out to chase down Eriksen.
Ostrowski took over the lead with about a half of lap to go
only to have Eriksen roll the inside of the hairpin turn
side-by-side with Ostrowski to make a challenge. The two
karts touched as they exited the turn with Ostrowski's kart
sliding off the turn forcing him to fall back. Eriksen went
on to take the win, Ostowski second, Palic third and Dave
Moody (Masters) fourth.
S2
& S4
One of the new classes for 2011 is the addition of the S2
and S4 classes run under SKUSA rules. On the pole was Jason
Toft (S2) with Tommy Thompson (S2) second. Top S4 qualifiers
were Brad Shaffer in fifth and Nick Galante in sixth. In the
first heat race, Toft and Thompson battled for the lead the
whole way with Toft taking the win by less than one tenth of
a second. Galante took the S4 win with his fifth overall
finish while David Arnstein took second in S4 with a seventh
overall position. In the second heat, Thompson stalled at
the drop of the green and was last going into turn one. Toft
cruised home to the win ahead of Neil Joseph and Daniel
Langon. Brad Shaffer took the S4 win ahead of Galante. In
the Main, Toft was on the pole with Thompson starting
fourth. Toft took the early lead and opened up a slight
cushion while Thompson had to work his way past Joseph.
Thompson did not have the speed to close the gap and had to
settle for second. Langon battled Joseph and eventually took
third. Galante came home first in the S4 class as Shaffer
went spinning off when Jim Inglebright attempted a bold
pass. David Arnstein then took over the second in S4.
With the exception of the red flag incident, the opening day

4-27-11 Emily
Maddison Enters SuperKarts USA Pro Tour
"Rookie Senior
will continue to run with Phil Giebler Racing"
Maddison set to contend the SKUSA Pro Tour with PGR.
With a jam-packed schedule in 2011, female pilot Emily Maddison
will begin her national racing campaign this weekend as she
heads to Tucson, Arizona for the opening round in the Superkarts!
USA (SKUSA) Pro Tour. Dubbed the Honda Racing/HPD
SpringNationals and taking place at the Musselman Honda Circuit,
Maddison will join forces with Phil Giebler Racing aboard an FA
Kart for her challenge in the TaG Senior category.
"The Pro Tour is one of the major series that we looked to focus
on," expressed Maddison after her last on track action in
California a few weeks ago. "I have competed a few races with
Phil Giebler and we really form a nice team. We have been fast
at almost every event, just had some bad racing luck."
Maddison is referring to her last round of the Pro Kart
challenge program where the up-and-coming female driver was one
of the quickest of the weekend. Nearly topping the charts in the
dry sessions, weather would hit the Buttonwillow Raceway and
force competitors to compete in wet weather action in the final
testing on Friday afternoon. Having not raced in the rain a lot
in previous years, Maddison chose to skip the session and work
with Giebler from the sidelines as they prepared for the
upcoming wheel-to-wheel weekend action. Taking in invaluable
information, Maddison learned from the former IndyCar driver.
"I listened to everything Phil had to say. I definitely learned
a lot and will put that to good use in the next rain action.
When the weekend was finally over and with all the help from
Phil Giebler Racing, I was able to secure a solid top five
result."
Working with multi-time champion Phil Giebler and his Phil
Giebler Racing squad has been a great program for the Canadian
pilot. The 2007 Indianapolis 500 Rookie-of-the-Year has worked
with multiple drivers in the previous few seasons and has taken
Maddison under his wing in 2011.
"Emily proves to be a very quick study," expressed Giebler from
his California shop. "She and her family are committed to
learning and competing whenever possible. This is a great
combination for future success and I cannot wait to help her get
there."
The first round of the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour kicks off April
29to May 2in Tucson, Arizona with the second round taking place
mid-July at the Grand Junction Motor Speedway in Grand Junction,
Colorado. Maddison and Phil Giebler Racing will then travel to
the series finale and the most prestigious race in all of North
America, the SKUSA SuperNationals in Las Vegas, Nevada
mid-November. When the last checkered flag falls in Vegas,
Maddison will look to stand atop the podium as the SKUSA Pro
Tour champion.

4-20-11 Leading
Edge’s Bell Reunites with Wilson for SKUSA Pro Tour Title Run
An extremely
potent combination from the Superkarts! USA history books has
been reformed and the results are expected to be exciting.
Leading Edge Motorsports’ Greg Bell and ’00 SKUSA ProMoto Tour
champion Bobby Wilson will re-unite this month to begin a charge
at the organization’s Pro Tour title, launching this campaign at
the SKUSA SpringNationals in Tucson, Arizona at the end of the
month. Wilson will pilot a Leading Edge Intrepid in the headline
S1 class on the 2011 SKUSA Pro Tour. Wilson and Bell were last
paired during 2000 season, scoring multiple poles en route to a
come-from-behind win at the SKUSA Moto World Finals in Oklahoma
to claim the S1 National Championship.
“I’m thrilled to have Bobby back on the team,” said Bell from
his Lodi, CA, where he is busy prepping the karts of his 2011
squad. “We worked really well together in 2000 and had some
really strong runs, eventually winning the title and the #1
plate. Bobby will add a lot to our team, bringing experience,
knowledge and coaching abilities to the line-up. I’m really
excited to have him in Leading Edge colors.”
Through the early part of last decade, Wilson was one of the top
shifterkart drivers in the country. After leaving Leading Edge
in 2001, Wilson did a brief stint in F2000 racing before coming
back to karting full time in 2001. For the next three years,
Wilson was one of dominant forces in the 125cc gearbox category,
winning in both the moto and ICC formulas. Bobby’s on-track
battles with Ron White were among the best in the sport. After
winning the Stars of Karting ICC National Championship in 2003
and the Jim Truman Scholarship in the process, Wilson again
headed to open wheel cars where he won the Cooper Tires Formula
Ford 2000 Zetec championship in 2004. A subsequent move to the
Firestone Indy Lights resulted in a trio of wins with victories
at Watkins Glen, Indianapolis and Milwaukee between 2005-2008.
Since that time, he’s become one of the sport’s top young driver
development specialists.
“I’m really excited to be getting back together with Greg,” said
Wilson from his home base in Indianapolis. “We had a lot of
success together in the past and I won my first National
Championship with him. Now, the goal is to repeat that
achievement and work with the younger drivers on the team.”
Along with being blindingly fast, Wilson is widely regarded as
one of the most technically-gifted drivers in the sport. Those
who have worked with him have always marveled at his feel for
the kart, as well as his ability to provide feedback to his
mechanic to address set-up issues. Wilson’s post-session
debriefs have always been long and detailed, allowing his
mechanic to dial this chassis in to near perfection.
“I think Bobby is going to be a great resource for the younger
kids on the team,” Bell added. “He’ll be able to study the data
with them and teach them to provide the feedback their tuners
need to improve their cars. Wilson’s always been very detailed
and specific in his feedback, that’s one of the many reasons
he’s so good. As a team leader, I’ll be looking for him to step
up and act as a mentor to the guys coming up. If they can spend
some time learning from him, the team will be just that much
stronger.”
The reunited Wilson/ Bell pairing will make its debut in Tucson
at the SKUSA SpringNationals during the final weekend of April.
The opening round of the three-weekend, five-race championship
runs at the Musselman Honda Circuit (formerly P1 Kart Circuit)
from April 29-May and for there, the team will look forward to
the SummerNationals in Grand Junction in July and the
SuperNationals in Las Vegas in November. There are still
arrive-and-drive seats available under the Leading Edge tent for

4-6-11 Red Line
Oil Karting Championship set to Kick Off 2011 on April 10th
After a long,
wet, and cold winter, the 2011 Red Line Oil Karting Championship
(RLOKC) will get under way on Sunday, April 10th on the National
track configuration at the Jim Russell International Karting
Center at Infineon Raceway. With more classes, more Saturday
practice and expected larger Rotax fields, 2011 looks to be a
return to large fields and great racing at one the west coast's
premier kart tracks. Ric Shaw will be returning for his 10th
year of event coordination and race directing. "I am looking
forward to 2011 with an expanded race day program and an overall
better race weekend", says Shaw.
With most of last year's sponsors returning and some exciting
new ones on board, the series is looking to offer racers not
only valuable products, but career development opportunities.
Just added to the sponsor lineup is World Speed Motorsports.
Along with fellow sponsor Molecule Racing, World Speed
Motorsports is providing a race car test at the end of the
season. GoPro will again return as a sponsor awarding GoPro HD
cameras at each event. The GoPro featured class for the first
race is the Rotax Masters/Rotax Masters Light race group. Look
for details on this and the other sponsor news early next week.
The 2011 season brings a number of changes with more classes
being offered to fill out the complete line of the best classes
in Northern California. Three new junior classes have been
added: KPV1, KPV2 and TaG Junior. Also new are TaG Senior, TaG
Masters, and Stock Moto. These classes join the 2010 line up of
IAME TaG, the popular 80 Masters class and eight Rotax classes.
The new classes will bring a number of new drivers to the Jim
Russell International Karting Center along with the many
regulars who will return to run the TaG classes as well as the
125 Stock Moto classes. The eight race RLOKC gives multi-engine
TaG and 125 Stock Moto drivers more races to run in Northern
California, and of course where better to get more race time
than at the beautiful and fast track at the Jim Russell
International Karting Center. The addition of the three new
junior classes is a statement by promoter Steve Cameron that he
wants to see the RLOKC become a strong junior driver development
series.
In the 2010 returning classes, expect to see three or four
drivers challenge the three time 80 Masters Champ, Tom Nelson.
The Parilla only IAME TaG class returns for 2011 with its
continued focus on keeping the overall racing cost down by using
a spec gear formula to keep the engine revs around 16,000.
The Rotax entry numbers are expected to reach another record
high for the sixth year in a row. With the Rotax Grand National
being held this year at near by Miller Motorsports Park in Utah,
there should be additional interest in the regional Northern
California Rotax Challenge program this year. Mini Max looks to
be one of the most competitive classes this year with Michael
Avansino returning to defend his crown with lots of competition
from main rival Michael Michoff as well as Annie and Toni
Breidinger, Gino Gigliotti and possibly So Cal's Nicky Hays.
Sanzaru Games will again sponsor the Mini Max class this year
with a cash payout of $50/$30/$20 going to the top three
finishers in each race this year. Brody Zink returns for the
first half of the season in Junior Rotax as be prepares for his
assault on the Rotax Grand National, but he will have more
competition this year in the likes of Junior TaG karts, which
will be racing with Junior Rotax in the same race group. Expect
to see Brody move up to Senior Rotax after the Nationals. Carlos
Calderon will return to defend his Senior Rotax crown, but will
not have it easy with strong competition coming from Raymund
Bustamante, Jr., Sean McDonald, and So Cal's Niki Luna. Andre
Eriksen will run only one class in 2011, that being the Rotax
DD2 Masters class. He will also wrench on his eight year old
son's, kart this year, Valdemar Eriksen who will be competing in
Micro Max. With Andre not defending his Rotax Masters crown, the
class is open for a new champion, with veteran Jerry Pretti
possibly looking at filling the void, but Cameron Evans may have
something to say about that. Mary Beth Wilson will also return
to defend her Rotax Masters Light crown with Mert Solis bound
and determined to take the class championship away in 2011. Also
expect to see veteran DD2 Masters driver January Grove return
and defend her crown in 2011.
Saturday practice will be run by the RLOKC promoter, Cameron
Karting. Practice is available from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm for a
fee of $50 which includes insurance and an EMT on site. $10 pit
passes for crew and spectators will be required on both Saturday
and Sunday. Pit passes purchased on Saturday will also be valid
for Sunday. This is an insurance requirement. Race
pre-registration and pre-tech will be available on Saturday.
The Sunday race day starts at 8:20 am with one round of practice
for all classes, a five lap group qualifying session, two eight
lap heat races and a fifteen lap main event. The race entry fee
is $100. There is a $10 transponder rental fee and $10 pit pass
fee for crew and spectators.
Plan to come out and see some of the best racing at one of the
best tracks to watch kart racing. For more information about the
Red Line Oil Karting Championship or the Northern California
Rotax Challenge, visit www.norcalrotax.com, or contact race
director Ric Shaw at racedirector-ric@hotmail.com.

Go Karts Dixon Xover Report
Photos By RMG
RaceMediaGroup.com
Michael Harvey on the pole, Garret Dixon wins big, Justin Yanez
2 for 2, Bob Hurst big Rotax Win.
Cambrian Go Karts was at the Kinsmen Kart Club Xover race this
weekend and the weather was perfect and the karts were out in
full force. With 27 birels prepared and ready to race under
management from the team everyone was focused on the task at
hand.
5 year old Jadyn Durbin, daughter on Cambrian's Donald Durbin
made her debut in kid kart 1 and was a proud little racer, with
her younger sister Jorja Durbin being one of her biggest fans it
was also very rewarding for Donald to see all the support his
young one had on the fence. " I thought it was so cool how every
single jr. driver came up to her and wished her luck, you could
tell she felt very special....as she should. " joked Donald. Her
Trophy is at school with her right now.
Jr-1 2cylce saw a new face on the top of the leader board in
practice and Qualifying as fast learning Michael Harvey put his
birel C28 on the pole for the first time at Dixon and impressed
everyone. " Michael is doing so well, just this time last year
we were getting his first kart built and now he is outdriving
some of the best around, watching him race this weekend showed
how much he as learned in such a short period of time. His team
mates in the class Holly Dixon ( sister of hot shoe Garret Dixon
) and Kyle Rossi finished their very first race this weekend and
made their parents proud. Great job you guys.
Hpv-1 Garret Dixon had the pace all weekend, he and his talented
team mates Michael Harvey, Alec Hudson, Scott Huffaker and Andre
Hall all took the track in their birel c28 chassis and looked
strong. Utilizing the teams networking ability to share notes
and move forward all were in the front of the field, but Garret
Dixon had something to prove this weekend as he never missed a
mark. With a front row starting spot he took the green and won
the first heat but suffered some pressure in the closing laps
while maintaining the lead. When the main came the Cambrian Team
had made some changes to the chassis and Garret pulled away to a
huge lead showing that he was the man for the job and scored
another win for the team. " when we were lucky enough to start
working with Garret not to long ago, he suffered like everyone
can by being a single operation. The learning curve in this
sport is steep and no one should give up, but by pulling him and
his family in close we have had the pleasure of calling him one
of our own while producing a winner, and we have only just
begun. " says a proud Donald Durbin.
Hpv 2- Justin Yanez has become an HPV2 Sensation overnight. His
recent move up from Hpv1 to Hpv2 has been filled with success
and his presence is known in the class. Justin and his team
mates Jaden Conwright and Grayson Browne consumed the stacked
field's front two rows. " I am proud of all of them, but this
weekend I was very happy about Jaden's qualifying efforts. " "
This is his second kart race ( he is also a quarter midget
phenomenon ) and he looks like its what he has been made to do.
" says the teams Donald Durbin Jr. " I saw him pass in some
places this weekend that shocked me, he never made contact with
a single kart and proved he can race with anyone. "
Justin lined up on the grid for qualifying and was notified by
his mechanic Donald Durbin what the fast time was so far set by
his competitors. " Justin didn't listen to me! " I told him to
run a 9, and he ran a 6 " Joked Donald. " All kidding aside,
their is an amazing amount of talent sitting in that 00 seat and
we are Lucky to be able to call him one of ours, his growth has
been with us and we have helped each other. I am very excited to
start spreading his wings in the coming years to find out where
we land. There is a very good chance we will be watching Justin
in professional racing in the future if he continues on this
path. Congratulations to Grayson Browne on another top five
finish, he did a outstanding job in the main event in traffic
and pulled off another great finish.
Tag Masters
Chris Rossi and Bob Hurst bolted on some Cambrian Go Karts Rotax
power and proved they were the ones to beat, with team mates
Dave Moody Ben Schriener, Stan Dutrow, and Mike Kittermen in the
class as well, nothing was set in stone yet as any one of these
drivers could take home the win. In the early laps of the main
Rossi over shot his break zone with cold tires and retired his
birel chassis earlier than he wanted, Mike Kittermen was in the
lead and connected with a competitor and ended his day as well,
but Dave Moody and Bob Hurst pulled away and put themselves in
position to finish 1-2 for the team as well as Stan Dutrow in
the 5th spot.
" What a great weekend! With Dixon, PC. and Davis's best all
showing up for this xover Our team showed our strength and unity
and came out on top. Congratulation's to Tony Brioso and Blake
Richards for their top spots in the 80 masters class as well,
those are two other great guys that we are lucky enough to
continue to help and race with. "
Up next is the rotax race at Infineon Raceway this Sat. and
Sunday as Cambrian Go Karts is preparing a full trailer of Karts
and Parts to depart friday morning to support their customers
and fellow racers. Look for a report on the weekend next week as
its sure to be a successful one.

4-6-11 P1
Engines Continues To Raise The Bar Across the United States
"Multiple race
wins for P1 Engines"
P1 Engines continues to raise the bar for success in North
America as the California-based company had a great outing at
the CalState Championship Round #2. Taking home multiple race
wins and podiums in several different classes, P1 Engines
powered drivers continue to show the way to the top step of the
podium.
P1 Engines dominated the PRD divisions as they took top honors
in PRD Senior, Junior and Junior 1. Looking untouchable
throughout the race weekend, P1 Engines powered drivers in the
PRD divisions swept the action at the technical California
facility.
With 29 karts in the PRD Senior field, it was P1 driver Matt
Johnson that bested the rest as he turned his second place
qualifying effort into a race win when the dust had settled. In
the PRD Junior 1 class it was Adam Iavelli that swept the class
by taking the pole position, heat race win and main event
victory with a pass on the penultimate lap. Following in the
footsteps of Johnson and Iavelli it was Canadian pilot Parker
Thompson who swept the action in PRD Junior. Fellow P1 Engines
driver Jason Hannegan would challenge Thompson throughout the
day but a bad start in the main event relegated him down the
running order.
Thompson would not be done on the podium quite yet as he would
also do battle in the KPV category scoring similar results.
After taking the pole position and heat race win, Thompson went
on to claim a dominating race win.
"The P1 Engines drivers are all having great seasons so far,"
expressed Jesus Vasquez, Owner of P1 Engines. "The drivers are
on multiple different chassis brands in several different
classes with the only common item being the engine builder. It
is a good feeling to have."
Noah Garza would be one of the drivers to beat in the Comer
division as a pole position in qualifying and a heat race win
would set him up for a front row starting spot in the main
event. Garza's only falter on the day would come in the final as
he narrowly missed the top spot but did manage to claim a second
place podium result.
A few drivers would see battle in Komet as Skylar Estrada,
Andrew Muruwatz and Royal McKee would utilize P1 Engines power.
Estrada would have a very strong run in the main event to jump
to the third and final podium position while McKee, who was a
late entry, would eventually come home sixth. Andrew was able to
make the podium with a fifth place result in both qualifying and
the main event.
Vasquez continued, "While this weekend is over, we will begin to
work hard towards the next one and continue the P1 Engines
successes."
Next on the docket for P1 Engines is the Pro Kart Challenge
North/South Shootout at Buttonwillow Raceway in Buttonwillow,
California. The event will take place this coming Friday and
Saturday with the Los Angeles Kart Club wrapping up with a club
race on Sunday.
For more information on P1 Engines or to book one of their
national level engines for testing or event weekend use, please

4-6-11 Austin
Elliott Scores A Pair Of Podiums In Wet Weather Action
RaceMediaGroup.com
"Two races and
two podiums for young talent"
Elliott scores race win and podium in wet weather action
Californian
pilot Austin Elliott was back on track the past two weekends and
was back to his winning ways scoring a pair of podium results
including a main event victory in California karting action.
Though the weather was not up to most racers' standards, Elliott
took advantage of the constant rain to hone his skills and run
at the front of the pack.
The first event would take place at the All Star Karting track
in Prairie City, CA as the NorCal Outlaw Race #2 was on the
docket. With heavy downpours and consistent rain throughout the
race weekend, Elliott and his crew used the Saturday test
sessions to get up to speed. Struggling slightly, the Top Kart
pilot would be off the pace in the morning sessions but as the
track continued to deteriorate, Elliott stepped up his game to
run some of the quickest times of the day.
"Saturday was a bit of a struggle for us," expressed Elliott.
"It was cold and windy and the rain didn't stop which made it
challenging, but we managed to tough through everything and turn
some very competitive lap times."
After a strong morning warm up session clocking fast times,
Elliott would see himself positioned in the front of the grid
for qualifying. Knowing what was needed for the pole position,
the P1 Engines powered Top Kart driver turned only two timed
laps in his run to take the pole position by nearly a second.
While pole position is one thing, Elliott would have to survive
a heat race and main event with fifteen other hungry drivers.
Making it look easy in the pre-final, Elliott steered his Top
Kart to a five second victory and claimed the pole position for
the main event later that day.
With the main event now upon them and the rain all but stopped,
the track would begin to dry as the KPV2 drivers hit the racing
surface. Understanding the importance of his rain tires, Elliott
took the lead at the drop of the green flag and instantly
started to conserve his tires. Looking for puddles on the drying
track to keep his treads cool, Elliott continued to pull away
from the field taking a commanding eight-second victory to stand
atop the #1 spot on the Podium.
Next on the schedule for Austin Elliott was the Pro Kart
Challenge North Race #2 in Prairie City, California. Having
dominated the weekend prior, Elliott was looking for the same
sort of results in his second ever Senior event. Just like the
previous weekend, rain would fall throughout the weekend
competition providing Elliott with a sense of confidence as they
worked on refining their race winning setup.
After qualifying in the third position, the Pro Kart Challenge
would see a pair of heat races to set up the grid order for the
main event. Having several setbacks in the heat races, Elliott
would suffer a puncture in his right front tire but managed to
hold onto the third position. In heat two, Elliott would come
home in P2 with a clutch that had exploded on the final circuit
due to a part failure earlier in the race.
Hoping that everything would stay together for the main event,
Elliott would run in the front half of the field as he looked to
score his second race win in as many weekends. Battling hard,
Elliott would eventually run out of laps and be the bridesmaid
on this weekend as he claimed the second step on the podium.
With his solid results in Pro Kart action, Elliott remains on
top of the point standings as they head to the third round of
the program.
Elliott will waste no time heading back out to the track to
begin testing for the upcoming race event in Arizona at the
Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Pro Tour in the ultra competitive TaG
Senior category later this month.
Austin would like to thank his sponsors and the support from his
team, family and friends who have helped him with his racing
success so far. Special thank you to: The Sons of Stafford
Plumbing, The Door & Window Stop, Fresno Tap Recyclers, Wesley
Boswell, Grand Products, P1 Engines, Kartel Motorsports, SNAP

4-4-11 IAME
Bridgestone Winter Series Race 3 Report
This
past weekend marked the final race of the IAME Bridgestone
Winter Series. The forecast heading into the event called
for rain, but as the drivers rose Saturday morning the skies
were clear providing a beautiful day for dry racing.
After a brief drivers meeting, practice kicked off and by
10:15 racing had commenced. Up for grabs this weekend was
the P1 Fitness and Nutrition Program awarded to the top
senior drivers in each category. Position 1 Fitness is a
cutting edge motorsports fitness company who has emerged as
a world leader in motorsports training, nutrition,
supplementation and therapy products and services. Whether
it be a weekend warrior or a professional, P1 Fitness has a
program to fit any racers skill level, budget and area of
motorsports. Also up for grabs was the Italkart chassis,
which would be awarded by pulling a name of all drivers who
participated in all three Winter Series events.
By noon, overflowing plates of homemade pasta and fresh
salad was served out of SIMA café. After lunch the group of
Weekend Warrior Racers (WWR) driving in SIMAs fleet of
rental karts headed straight into their pre-final event.
Karting veteran Brian Devries took both the pre-final and
final event just holding off Serengeti Designs president
Christopher Clark.
Jr. 1s Sara Brinkac clenched another win with Christian
Newland following close in second. The junior 3 class saw
brothers Kale and Syzo Kunicki finish one two and in Jr. 4
Cycle Kyle Adams crossed the finish line in first with
Kaitlyn Henderson and Anthony Emmott rounding out the top
three.
Tag Seniors Todd Jackson arrived late to the scene but still
managed to take the win with Steve Bruns and Chris Barker in
second and third. This weekend had a good showing in Senior
4 Cycle where Scott Barlee led the race to clench first
place. Glen Blankers followed in second with Chris Genge in
third. The shifter race ended with long time friends and
teammates David Jurca and Michael Valiante on the top of the
podium. Young Remo Ruscitti followed close behind in third.
The much anticipated draw for the use of an Italkart Chassis
for the complete 2011 Region 6 Gold Cup Series season
finally arrived. The first name to be drawn was Glen
Blankers, who subsequently had to let go of the prize as he
was unable to attend the full GoldCup circuit. The final
draw landed Scott O'Farrell with the new Italkart chassis.
Scott will be heading south this weekend as the first Gold
Cup event kicks off in Tri-Ciites, Washington.
First and foremost, SIMA would like to thank all the
participants who came out and supported the first series at
the new race facility. A huge thank you to all the sponsors;
Bridgestone Tires, VP Fuel, Douglas Wheels, Position 1
Fitness, Italkart and the Seattle Mariners. And lastly,
thanks to all the volunteers who came out to lend a hand
throughout the series. Collectively the series was a great
success and SIMA looks forward to the first SIMA Summer
Series race held on April 23rd.

4-2-11 Bordogna
Engines Run Up Front All Weekend at Prokart Challenge Race #2
Bordogna Racing
Engines "Crib of Champions" showed up at Prairie City to compete
for a win at the ProKart Challenge North race #2 this weekend
under rainy conditions.
After great results at Prairie City the weekend before , winning
in Tag Sr. and getting 3 second place finishes in Yamaha, Cadet
and HPV2, with Elijah Prychodzko , Matt Chase, Hunter Kelly and
AJ Juergens, the team went back home to get ready for another
weekend of success in the ProKart series.
Testing Saturday, on a dry track, both kids (Hunter Kelly and
Nick Sommers) showed the fastest times in Mini Rok and Tag Jr.
classes. Running decent under rain conditions on a wet track, we
made the decision to put on a new set of rain tires for the last
practice sessions. It was the right decision as the karts moved
to the top of the time sheets again!
On Sunday, under rain conditions, both kids qualified in top
spots. Kelly was 2nd only 0.004 seconds off the pole, and Nitro
Nick Sommers qualified 2nd in Tag Jr. The day was starting off
very good for the Bordogna Racing Engines team.
In the 1st cadet heat race, Kelly who started on the front row
got pushed out in the 1st corner by another competitor, dropping
him back to the last position. Kelly would recover almost all of
the positions to finish the heat in third place. "Mini" Kelly
did a great job getting through the second heat race to secure a
2nd place starting position for the main event.
In the main the story was different. Kelly made a great pass
using the outside line of corner one. Kelly then focused on his
driving line to get away from the whole pack. Winning his first
ProKart Race, Kelly dominated with a 17 second victory and the
fastest lap of the race. “I can't believe it” (Hunter says)...”I
am so happy. I want to say thanks to my Mom, Dad, Grandpa, Bucky
and Danny for this amazing season where the karts and motors run
great in every class!”
In the Tag Jr. class rookie driver, Nitro Nick Sommers, who only
a couple months ago was still racing in the Jr. 1 Comer class
now competes against National Champion drivers in Tag Jr. In
Heat 1 Nitro Nick took the lead on the first lap running away
from the field in wet track conditions. But half way through the
race the rain stops and the wind started to dry the track. The
changing track made his kart slow down, finishing the 1st heat
in 2nd place. In the second heat, under very rainy conditions,
Nick make a great pass to take the lead. Again he started to
leave the pack to win his first ProKart heat by 9 seconds over
his competitors.
For the 20 lap main event Nitro Nick took the lead for the first
half of the race, but the competition was coming. As he started
to gain confidence, another kid (Jarred) came from the back to
pass Nick in corner one. Nick refocused and began to chase the
leader back down with smooth driving and no mistakes. Both kids
put on an amazing race that had people lining the fences. The
lapped karts came into play, while the leaders passed each other
a couple of times on the last laps. This just added a little
spice to the race. Nick came home with a proud 2nd place finish!
This was one of the most amazing races that I have ever watched
in my life. Those kids did a great Job! It was a very
professional race by both boys. Jarred and Nick drove like F1
drivers.
“I want to see more clean races like that!” Bordogna said...

4-4-11 Raquel
Martinez WSK Masters 7 Laghi Report
Fresh off her
first win of the 2011 season at the second round of the WKA
Manufacturer’s Cup Raquel Martinez headed to the 7 Laghi
International kart circuit to compete in the second round of the
WSK Masters Series. Raquel was looking forward to getting back
to another familiar track in Europe.
With no rain in the forecast Raquel looked for a much better
weekend than the first round of the series. Qualifying in the
54th position Martinez was ready to move up in the heat races.
Starting in the 22nd position in all four-heat races Raquel
moved up eight positions in the eight lap heat race finishing in
14th position. In heat two Raquel again got off to a great start
and moved up through the field finishing in 15th, but
unfortunately in heat three she was knocked out of the race on
lap two. The last heat of the weekend was a wild one. As the
field came around a took the one lap to go board the came around
once again, but did not see the checkered flag. Many drivers
thought the race was over and went into the pits. Raquel knew
the race was not over and went around for another lap, but was
struck by a kart coming back onto the track after making the
mistake of going into the pits. Raquel ended the race in 16th.
“This was a tough weekend and I am disappointed that we did not
make the final,” commented Martinez. I cannot thank my mechanic
Davide and our team manager Antonio enough for never giving up
the entire weekend. I am looking forward to the next round of
the WKA championship at South Bend where I had my best result
last season.”
Next up for Raquel is the third round of the WKA Manufacturer’s
Cup where she looks to score a few more wins and extend her
championship lead in Komet Jr. Lite. To learn more about Raquel

4-1-11 Prokart
Challenge South to Award Tag Cadet Prizes At Buttonwillow
Outstanding prizes and start of new TaG Cadet mini-series to
begin at round three of Superkarts! USA program
The growth of the new TaG Cadet category is taking the
Superkarts! USA organization by storm and the support from
engine manufacturer Vortex continues to pour in. The sanctioning
body is proud to announce additional prizes and a new four race
mini-series within the ProKart Challenge programs, beginning at
next weekend’s event - round three of the PKC South series at
Buttonwillow Raceway Park in Southern California. The April 8-9
event will be the final ProKart Challenge race prior to the
highly-anticipated SKUSA SpringNationals that will kick off this
season’s Superkarts! USA Pro Tour. A strong number of drivers
are expected to participate at the Buttonwillow event in
preparation for the trip to Tucson, Arizona.
The final four races for each of the ProKart Challenge South and
North programs will host the TaG Cadet Rok Cup International
Final shoot-out, with the driver who scores the most points in
each series earning an invitation to compete at the South Garda
Karting facility in Lonato, Italy the October 16 weekend. In
addition to the launch of the new mini-series, the event winner
of the Buttonwillow event next weekend will be awarded a full
entry to the SKUSA SuperNationals XV in Las Vegas, including a
guaranteed starting position for the main event.
“We are fired up about the support and excitement surrounding
our TaG Cadet program,” stated Superkarts! USA President Tom
Kutscher. “Our partnership with Vortex has been outstanding, and
their Mini Rok engine is receiving exceptional reviews
throughout the paddock. This four race mini-series will only
further support the class and provide another driver the
opportunity to race in Italy. The Buttonwillow event is the last
chance for drivers to warm up for the SpringNationals coming at
the end of April, so we thought an added bonus of a SuperNats
entry would be great incentive for others to come. We will award
the prize to the driver who scores the most points on the day to
further encourage fair and competitive racing.”
The event next weekend – on Buttonwillow’s 7/10-mile track #2
with no kink and a nearly 1000 foot long straightaway – will
mark the end of the first half of the season for ProKart
Challenge South and will further establish the championship
chases. The Extreme Karting-sponsored S1 Pro Stock Moto division
is currently led by defending class champion Clinton Schoombee,
as he holds a small 10 point advantage over Adams winner Brad
Dunford. Ryon Beachner and Peter Abba are not far off and could
be major threats with a solid round three performance. The most
consistent driver in the 2 Wild Karting-sponsored S2 Semi-Pro
Stock Moto class to this point has been Nicky Freytag. The
Arizona driver was runner-up in the first two events while also
taking home bonus points for the quick lap in qualifying and in
both features. Willow Springs' winner Vivek Tandon sits second
in the early chase standings with Michael Leib holding the third
spot.
Travis Lowe is the driver to beat in the Tony Kart
West-sponsored TaG Senior category, having earned the feature
win in the first two events of the season. Veteran Billy
Cleavelin – who sits second in the point standings – challenged
Lowe at Willow Springs, but was unsuccessful. The two will
battle in Buttonwillow, with Cleavelin looking to cut into
Lowe’s strong point advantage. The TaG Master class, sponsored
by Leading Edge Motorsports, is currently led by 2009 series
champion Steve Wiener, as he holds a 58-point advantage over Kim
Ryan – with Allan Svela in third.
The G-Phactory-sponsored S4 Master Stock Moto category has been
the largest thus far in the season, with another large field
expected in Buttonwillow. Many will be chasing point leader
Jimmy McNeil, who is coming off an event sweep in round two.
Adams winner Robert Marks holds the second spot in the title
chase with Randy McKee, defending class champion Wayne Mello and
Doug Hayashi completing the top-five. The two winners of the
opening rounds in the Select Shifter/DR Kart-sponsored S3 Novice
Stock Moto class currently sit 1-2 in the standings. Round two
winner Jessica Sollberger holds the top spot by 56-points over
opening round winner Sebastian Scaglia. The rest of the top-five
- which includes Kellen Guthrie, Vatche Tatikian and Allan James
- sit within 155 points of Sollberger with plenty of racing left
to cut into that advantage. Marc Lewis has a 40-point advantage
over Robert Morales in S4 Magnum, with each holding onto one
feature win so far this season.
The top three in the TaG Junior division are only separated by
30 points. Willy Axton is coming off the feature win at Willow
Springs, leading the points over Carter Williams and round one
winner Austin Dement. The Phil Giebler Racing-sponsored TaG
Cadet category, as mentioned above, is expected to see large
numbers with the new mini-series program and SuperNationals
entry announcement. Championship chase wise, round one winner
Jacob Drew holds the top spot over round two victor and
defending SKUSA Pro Tour champion Colton Herta. Two-time podium
finisher Noah Grey is keeping both drivers honest and within
striking distance.
Micah Hendricks has a hold on the E.U.S.I.-sponsored S5 Junior
Stock Moto division, claiming both feature wins this season –
with Augie Lerch keeping the pressure on. Howie Idelson is the
lone driver to compete in both rounds in the G1 category;
however, Peter Workum jumped on board at Willow Springs and is
sure to challenge Idelson the rest of the season.
ProKart Challenge South will continue to offer a free Friday
practice day to anyone who has not run a PKC or SKUSA race in
the past two years (a savings of $60) when registering for their
first event of 2011. In addition, the discounted price structure
– which lowers the package price for an entry and race tires
down to just $295 if the racer registers online – is also still
available. Pre-registration pricing applies if completed before
the midnight deadline on Wednesday, April 6 at
www.skusastore.com. The specially-branded MG ‘SKUSA’ tire – the
new official tire for all Superkarts! USA events – will continue
to be utilized following rave reviews and a number of drivers
using the Buttonwillow event to get one final race on the tire
before the SKUSA SpringNationals.
More information regarding round three of ProKart Challenge
South at the Buttonwillow Raceway Park circuit can be found at
the following link (http://www.superkartsusa.com/regional/pkc-south/round-3-2011.html).
Pit spot reservations are currently being accepted for $30 each
and SKUSA membership, specific colored number panels and rear
bumpers will be mandatory. For more information on anything
related to the ProKart Challenge or Superkarts! USA, visit their
website – www.superkartsusa.com – or call the SKUSA head office
