BUMPER RETENTION RECOMMENDATIONSKUSA’s
preferred method is the use of heavy duty (175#) tie wraps between the
frame and the holes in the plastic bumper. Note that the installation
pulls the bumper assembly tightly towards the frame, so that in the
event the bolts holding the bumper into the frame loosen, the stepped
washers still position the bumper.
Cables, such as a clutch cable, may also be utilized. Whatever method is
used must be of sufficient strength to hold the bumper in position if
the mounting bolt or the hardware mounting the bumper to the bracket
loosens.
If your bumper mounting to the frame does not include stepped washers,
it is important to safety wire the bolt so that it cannot fall out.
